Middle Store Build issues

As you may well know, the committee has been following up on a recent engineers report into the structure and safety of the middle store.  This activity is not complete but the bad news is that we need to place restrictions on the use of the building until remedial work has been completed. This means having a maximum of 2 people at a time on the first floor.

To remind members of this, we have put a notice up towards the top of the stairs leading to the first floor.

Please don’t go upstairs unless you absolutely must!

Asbestos Warning

The Committee would like to draw your attention to risks involving asbestos when working on or near any of the older building including the South Store. Click here for more information.

Messages from the Commodore

Hi All,

I would like to bring you all up to date with the Harbour Masters proposal to join his pontoons to ours and potentially have walk ashore access through our club.

The committee discussed his latest proposal and unanimously voted not be involved with any future development of the pontoons.

I emailed Ed Walker the Harbour Master he responded and excepted our decision. Within a week plans were put on social media by the Harbour Authority and in the local paper showing a planning application to still join onto our Pontoons.

I have opposed the planning application and confirmed that we do not give permission for the harbour authority to connect to our pontoons or have walk ashore access through East Cowes Sailing Club.

I’m happy to discuss this with individuals as there has been a lot going on behind the scenes that the club membership need to be aware of, as and when you see me in the club.

Peter Ball
Commodore
